Guardiola clarifies the status of Haaland and Doku…and the date of their return

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s coach, revealed the nature of the injury to team duo Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku.

Guardiola had ruled the duo out of the Luton Town match (2-1) due to injury, in the 16th round of the English Premier League.

Guardiola said, in statements published on the club’s website: “I spoke with Haaland last Saturday, and he said he felt much better.”

He added: “After the Aston Villa match last week (round 15), he was unable to walk. Now he walks without feeling any pain.”

He continued: “We are monitoring the condition on a daily basis. He does not suffer from a fracture. It is just pressure on the bones. We hope that he will be ready against Crystal Palace (next Saturday). If that does not happen, his return may be in the Club World Cup.”

Regarding Doku’s injury, Pep concluded: “It is a muscle injury. It is not a big problem like Kevin De Bruyne, but we have to think about how strong he is, and we have to be careful… Maybe he will be ready in a week or two.”
